The purpose of this program is the development of a smart spectral mapper for the detection of early phytopathological symptoms in vegetable plants, under conditions of biotic and abiotic stress. The portable camera-spectral mapper will incorporate the most advanced technologies of hyperspectral imaging, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Diagnosis through this camera will be fully automated and without the need to take a sample from the plant. In other words, the handheld device to be developed will serve as a “laboratory in the field” and will introduce a new method of “spectral phenotype” internationally for biotic and abiotic stresses in high-value vegetable products for Crete.
